LILLET BLANC

The unique Lillet Blanc exists in its own category but is still often associated with vermouth, as it is legally a fortified wine. But if a liquid can be construed to offer up a personality of its own, then Lillet does it with style.

With a delightful array of citrus notes and detours that take off to exotic, tropical spots, Lillet's marriage of wine (Sauvignon Blanc) and liqueur (several types of oranges from distant outposts) forms an aperitif that also happens to be quite mixable. Pour the liquid over ice in a rocks glass, add a sliced round of orange rind and you can match Lillet with anything from fresh shellfish to fish tacos.
